Admissions Criteria

Welcome to the BTECH High School Admissions Page for our Future BTECH Family Members!

Based upon the impact of COVID-19 across all aspects of our city school system, NYC is updating admissions information and application deadlines.

Please note, the high school application opens the week of January 18th

Admission Method: Ed-Opt Program

These programs are designed to serve students at a range of academic levels. We rank applicants based on our rubric using specific criteria. Offers are made based on randomly assigned numbers, and some offers are made based on ranking numbers for programs that rank applicants.   BTECH  selects 50% of applicants using the school’s admissions rubric, the Department of Education selects the remaining 50% of applicants using their Middle School English test scores for Priority Groups and Admissions.

Students from all five boroughs of New York City are eligible to apply to BTECH, however, the majority of our students reside in the borough of Queens.

We accept freshman and sophomore applicants through the Admissions process.  In the 2019-2020 Academic Year we had over 1100 freshman applicants with an average 10:1 acceptance rate.

Ranking:

The order in which you place each of your 12 school choices on your application matters in Admissions process.  Your best chance of getting an offer to any program is to include it as a choice on your high school application.

If you decide to #SayYestoBTECH, make sure you properly rank us on your application with the High School Code Q58A.
